Edmonton was founded in 1795 when a Hudson's Bay Company Trading Post was established with the construction of Fort Edmonton. It officially became a town in 1892 with a population of 700. By 1904 Edmonton had 9,000 residents, and a year later it became incorporated as a city and declared the provincial capital.

When packing, put aside items you don't really need to take with you. Donate old clothes to charity, and hold a garage sale to sell off other unwanted items.

When your possessions arrive at your new home, hook up your TV and DVD player first, to keep your children occupied while the rest of the contents are being unloaded.
