Ernie Hallett Retires

Ernie Hallett Retires August 31, 2009 was a special day at Western Moving & Storage in Edmonton. Not only did it mark the end of our peak season, but we celebrated the end of an illustrious voyage for one of our employees. Ernie Hallett. Ernie retired after more than 50 years in the Moving Industry. His career started at Mite Bros in Kingston, Ontario and his travels took him to Middup Moving, Tippet Richardson/Toronto and Western Moving & Storage.

Many older folks will remember in the early years, Ernie was referred to as "Junior" since he ran with his Uncle Bill for many, many years. Under Uncle Bill's tutelage, Ernie learned that the wheel was invented before carrying. As Ernie told many of the young people in the business "It's easier to wheel it, than carry it."

Past and present Employees of Western Moving & Storage attended a retirement Dinner held in Ernie's honor. To share the evening, Hazel Hallett also attended.

In the absence of Anne Martin, Carol LeLacheur presented Ernie on behalf of United Van Lines and their Member families to Ernie a United "exclusive" jacket and miniature tractor/trailer. On behalf of the Western Moving, Ted LeLacheur presented Ernie and Hazel with a travel gift certificate and bouquet of flowers for Hazel- not Ernie.

Ernie and Hazel have retired to the Beach on Vancouver Island where they plan to spend time with Hazel's family and fish (seven days a week according to Ernie).

Western Moving Cares

Edmonton Humane SocietyIt has recently been confirmed that over 58% of Canadians own a pet. The staff of Western Moving are no exception. Many of our employees own pets and for this reason, we are very pleased to announce a cheque from Western Moving was presented to The Edmonton Humane Society.

Pictured are Sheila Miranda and Paul Sullivan presenting the cheque to Lorelei Madiuk of the Edmonton Humane Society. Western Moving is proud to support this organization.
